MEDTEQ+ and OBIO® Join Forces to Accelerate the Development of AgeTech Innovations Across Canada

Montreal, May 6, 2025 – MEDTEQ+ and OBIO®, two not-for-profit organizations offering programs to support companies in the health technology development sector in Canada, are pleased to join forces to accelerate Canadian entrepreneurs’ innovations and increase collaboration in developing these innovations to deploy across Canada, especially in AgeTech.
Increased Collaboration Between Provinces
Building on a long-standing relationship, the partnership between MEDTEQ+ and OBIO® will further advance the AgeTech sector through the envisAGE initiative and continue to strengthen the positioning of Canadian companies in the health technology sector. By leveraging their programs, networks and expertise, MEDTEQ+ and OBIO® plan to offer better support to innovative Canadian companies, from ideation to commercialization, and to maximize financing and funding opportunities for collaborative projects in the Canadian healthcare sector.

MEDTEQ+ and OBIO® have a long history of supporting Canadian innovators to bring their innovations to market and accelerate their path to commercialization. Since 2012, MEDTEQ+ has coordinated over 40 calls for projects and supported more than 200 innovative projects thanks to the support of the provincial and federal governments, enabling the implementation of over 450 health innovations in various health and service establishments. Over the past few years, MEDTEQ+ has also spearheaded a number of digital health initiatives, ranging from pandemic response, AgeTech, space medicine, autonomous healthcare and FemTech technologies for women’s health. MEDTEQ+ is the initiator of the Beachhead networks, comprised of 14 centres of excellence, including nine specialized centres in aging, whose mandate is to validate and evaluate the innovations of Canadian small & medium enterprises (SMEs) in real-world conditions.
OBIO® is an integral part of the life sciences and health tech ecosystem, supporting companies to bring their products to market. Since 2018, through commercialization and technology adoption programming, OBIO®, has successfully completed 125+ adoption projects, and supported SMEs in raising $1.6 billion in dilutive funding along with $30 million in sales. OBIO’s Early Adopter Health Network (EAHN™) matches Canadian commercial-ready health technology SMEs with a national network of 80+ healthcare organizations to evaluate technologies in a real-world setting and to facilitate their broad adoption into the healthcare system. Through its Life Sciences Critical Technologies & Commercialization (LSCTC) Centre of Excellence, supported by the Government of Ontario, OBIO® is prioritizing the evaluation and implementation of new solutions using critical technologies: 5G and advanced networks, ethical artificial intelligence, blockchain, cybersecurity, quantum and robotics.
Technology adoption through OBIO’s EAHN™ program and the LSCTC Centre of Excellence, in partnership with envisAGE, will provide simultaneous support in the fastest, most seamless way possible to Ontario’s AgeTech companies. The purpose of this collaboration is to facilitate the adoption of innovative solutions that can improve the quality of life of our aging population.
